FAQ

Everything You Need to Know

What is the difference between Hypnosis and Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

The clue is in the title what I do is therapy and because it is Solution Focused there is not need to revisit the past or go to your deepest fears in order to help you.  The sessions are very positive and are focused on finding solutions to the things that you are finding difficult at the moment.  Looking for the direction of travel is very rewarding and positive and you will leave the sessions feeling relaxed, poised and positive.

Will you make me do something with which I am not comfortable?

NEVER!  You are always in control of yourself in our sessions.  As part of our therapy we always explain what is happening and why your brain works in the way that it does.  As your understanding grows of your brain you will realise that you are in control of it.  When you realise this - it is exhilarating.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind; people are often surprised that they hear every word and could get up and walk out of the room at any moment if they so chose. Unless you enter a deeper state, you may not feel any different, just very relaxed.

It’s similar to drifting off to sleep at night; it is that stage when you are not quite awake and not quite asleep. You may feel a sense of weightlessness or you may feel heaviness as all your muscles relax. Everyone experiences it differently, and I will be able to reassure you and help you relax and enjoy the experience.

I want to quit smoking - do you offer any 'guarantees'?

I do not offer guarantees – and no professional therapist should. YOU need to accept some responsibility for your smoking habit, and you need to put the effort in if you want to stop – nobody can do it for you. I can help you a great deal, but only you can make yourself any guarantees.  Hypnotherapy is not magic- it can help you to achieve many things in life, but none of these things can be guaranteed, because it depends on how much effort you, the client, puts in.  I do offer free follow-up session for a month if needed.

Can it do me harm?

No, hypnosis is very safe.   Hypnosis is deep relaxation with suggestion and guidance from the hypnotherapist as to where your subconscious mind needs to focus. There is nothing harmful in relaxation. Most people receive great benefit from the experience and find it a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

How do you "fix" me?

Many people believe that as a hypnotherapist I will simply click my fingers and everything is done.

Hypnotherapy is not a magic wand that I wave and somehow you are magically "fixed".  My job is not to fix you it is to support, guide, enable and encourage you to resolve your own issues.

My job is to help YOU fix YOU.  I will help you to design your own future and take the steps towards it.  It is not something I can do for you but I can help you to do it.
